In the Beginning

I've been thinking about church a lot recently. Mostly in the wee hours of the night, when I wish I could physically climb into the lap of Christ. I feel a slight depression creep over me when I realize it's just little ol' me down here, hoping I will one day be able to do such a thing. I want to be able to be that person who people can come to, and feel no judgment, and feel no reservations to speak with me about their troubles and worries about their spiritual life. I like knowing what to say to help people. I have a friend who says she is a "words" person. When I hear that, I feel like that means she knows what to say in every and all situations. I know, really, that she just needs to communicate with words, and she has dealt a lot of great advice my way since I've known her. I'd like to be that person, though... who can comfort with words. But not just to make someone feel happy in any random situation. I want to comfort with the promise of redemption, and salvation. To help someone find their way through the day because they can feel the love of God shining down on them. It's hard to put aside feelings that Satan himself has ingrained in you, with such lies as "You're not lovable", "You're no good", and the worst of all "God does not love you". I have come across so many instances where I've had to stop and think about how I feel about a certain situation concerning other people's opinions of God, Jesus, and The Truth. I'd like to confront these lost souls. I don't want to be that person who is considered a "Bible Thumper". I resent those people as well. I'd like to be able to sit with someone and be able to give them advice straight from the sweetest source in existence: The Bible. There are so many truths in it, that we all should take comfort in. Why do so many people turn away from the comforts that are so readily available, without prejudice? I want others to feel the calm I have in the knowledge that I have God to turn to in stressful times. I don't have to carry the burdens of this life all alone, or depend on other humans, who have their own troubles. I take comfort knowing that God has a hand in all situations in my life, and if I just "Let Go, and Let God", things will always work themselves out for the best. Maybe not MY idea of the best, but for the greater good at least. I am still trying to work out what it is that I have inside me for Christ and his world. I'm feel so blind to what he's leading me to do, though. Time is short here, and I need to start listening more intently.
